What are HUD Homes? 
HUD Homes (The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development) are homes that were purchased using a mortgage that was insured by the FHA. These properties are referred to as “HUD homes” when the borrower defaults on the loan. A HUD home is a one-to-four unit residential property acquired by HUD through a foreclosure action against an FHA-insured mortgage.
