The original subdivision of Scenic Hills was developed in the 1950's and 1960's, off Scenic Highway and Creighton Road, part of which is just across from Escambia Bay near Devil's Point. It's not a large community, entailing Creighton Road from the entrance at Gull Point Rd, and spanning the length of Peacock Drive. Other cross streets include Oriole Ave, Lark Ave, Carolina Ave, and Christy Drive. The community is often confused with Scenic Hills North and the Country Club near there, but it is not close to that area.
The homes here are very affordable ranch styles, brick or block, and range in price from around $125,000 to $300,000. Most have three or four bedrooms, porches, carports, and larger than average lots. Some of the streets along the community are absolutely beautiful, with mature palms, live oaks that form a canopy, and many landscaped yards blend in with their own collections of flowering trees and shrubs. It is truly a peaceful and pretty neighborhood.
If you are looking for a starter home or are on a budget, this neighborhood is as good as it gets for inexpensive housing. Scenic Hills is just two minutes from Scenic Hwy and the Bay, 10 minutes from downtown Pensacola and 20 minutes from the beach. Washington High School services Scenic Hills and the school district is considered a good one. This is a very family-friendly community.
